Welcome to the AEBike blog
We had an unseasonably warm July so the water temperatures were in the upper 70s, but the air temperature at 7am was just above 50 degrees. The location on Corey Lake was beautiful, with many nice homes in the upscale neighborhood graciously lending the use of their property for the 250+ athletes to trample on.
The race itself went very smoothly. My swim has always been average, and I was out of the water in 10th place in my age group. The bike is by far my best of the three disciplines and I ended up with the 8th fastest bike time in the whole race, and first in my age group. The bike course was on the difficult side, with almost constant rolling hills. Average speed: 20.4mph.
Last season the run was my worst discipline, but I have improved to where I now consider it to be "average". The run course was very hilly so I was happy to be able to average an 8:24 pace. In the end my finish time was 1:14:47 with an age group finish of 6/14. My field placement of 28/156 was my personal best.
Of course the Three Rivers Tri is known for their great post-race party. What other race has all you can eat home-made blueberry pancakes?
